Mark Mirko has been a staff photographer at the Hartford Courant for nine years. He has a B.A. in Mass Communication from California State University, Fresno, and in 2003 was the Knight Fellow at Ohio University’s School of Visual Communication.
During his tenure at the Courant, he has had the good fortune to work with a collection of picture editors, designers and photographers who for three consecutive years won the Angus McDougall Overall Excellence in Editing Award.
Mirko has twice been named an NPPA Regional Photographer of the Year, and in 1992 his photographs from Hurricane Andrew were part of a Palm Beach Post team portfolio that was honored as Pulitzer finalist.
